Dr. Barrow's interest in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine began in the 1990's while practicing Chinese Martial Arts, Tai Chi and Qi Gong. Fascinated by how a small person could manifest such great strength through the discipline of these martial arts, Dr. Barrow began a quest to find out how this happens in the human body. The answers were in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Dr. Barrow completed a Master's Degree in TCM at Florida College of Oriental Medicine in 2000. In 2002 he opened The Balancing Point. Since then he has committed himself to offer affordable holistic remedies within Traditional Chinese Medicine to the people of this community.
Acupuncture is an ancient technique involving the insertion of very thin needles in very specific spots on the body. The acupuncture needles stimulate the body's electromagnetic current which then stimulates the flow of blood and nutritive fluids in a way to help restore the body's ability to heal itself.
Cupping is another time tested technique used across many cultures. Cupping uses small round suction cups on the skin. We use them to pull blood from deep in joints or muscles, allowing fresh oxygenated blood to seep into that area and oxygenate those tissues. Cupping frequently will leave bruising for a few days but is fantastic at resolving many pain conditions.
The term Qi Gong means "the study of the energy". There are many types of Qi Gong or "Energy Study" fields. At Balancing Point Wellness Dr. Barrow provides instruction of very simple, yet profoundly effective Qi Gong exercises to help patients reach their goals of healing, stress relief, and emotional balance.
